My Natural Hair: Kinky Fro' S and Head Wraps!

I know that natural hair is supposed to be versatile, but this is right now, my all time favorite go to style. This style is comfort for me at the same time, shows my face. Right now, I feel like I have nothing to hide behind, even when I have NO make on I still feel confident.

I absolutely love all the colors and designs there are to choose from.

I have found in me, freedom to embrace my kinks. Enjoy my kinks!

Soon, I will venture out into other styles and definitely different ways to rock my scarves, but right now I am loving this looks right here.

At this point, I am indeed enjoying the journey. Although, it has only been a short period of time and I am sure there are going to be some bumps in the road, but when they come I'll just have to pray for bigger wheels to ride over them.

Embracing myself with Love, HE is the light.

Peace & Love!

My Therapeutic Hands

When it comes to my hands, it is very important that I take care of them. They're my instruments, my tools, my money maker, so to speak. If I don't take care of them I can hang my Massage Therapy career up. Now this does not only apply to Massage Therapist, this also applies to anyone who use their hands on a regular, so that means just about everyone.
It's important that we treat our hands to a little R & R as often as possible. So a treat to me would be a day at the Salon getting a soothing manicure with a wonderful hand/arm massage. But if you find that you don't have time for that or it's just not in your budget, here is what I like to do at home:

  • File my nails down and/or shape
  • Add a cuticle remover or cream to soften the cuticles
  • Trim the cuticles if needed
  • Soak hands for about 5 - 10 mins. in warm to comfortable hot water with Epsom Salt. You can also add your favorite manicure soak or a few drops of Essential Oils like: Peppermint oil, Lemongrass, Lavender, or whatever fragrance oil you prefer
  • Add an exfoliating scrub to soften and renew hands
  • Rub the scrub gently in a circular motion all over hands and a little past the wrist
  • Let scrub sit for about 1-2 mins. ( For best results, place a warm/hot towel over hands)
  • Place your hands back into the water and rub your hands to rinse all the exfoliating scrub away
  • Dry hands with a clean towel
  • Take your favorite oil and apply to your cuticles for 1-2 mins. (This is to help soften and heal damaged, spilt, dry cuticles)
  • Then apply your favorite hand cream or oil and massage deep into the hands and arms

 AHHHHH!
And now you have just pampered your hands. Your hands will thank you for it in the long run and so will the people you touch.
OH YEAH! These steps can also be applied to the feet. They are just as important as your hands.
Remember treat you body good and your body will treat you better.

Some Health Benefits of Massage

Did you know that getting a massage is a step towards better health? Well it's true!
Massage can aid in:

  • Better blood circulation
  • Relief of anxiety and depression
  • The recovery time of the muscles after a workout
  • Stress levels
  • Hormones
  • Morale
  • Decreasing muscle cramps and spasms
  • Increasing Range of Motion
  • Some Lymphatic issues
  • and list of other wonderful benefits
A lot of the times we don't think to call and schedule an appointment with a Massage Therapist when
we are feeling sore, fatigued, depressed and so on. A lot of the times, we figure we'll just pop a pill or we do nothing. Only a small percentage of us will probably call our physician with our issues and that's not good, because of the obvious that there could be a bigger problem at hand. Of course with all issues that you may be having with your body, I would definitely say please contact your physician with these issues and in that check-up just ask your doctor if it's safe for you to receive a massage.
"Well, why do I need to ask my doctor if it's SAFE for me to get a massage?"you ask. Well, what I've learned is that there's a contraindications for some people who may have certain types of illnesses, disease, deficiencies, and so on that would prevent them from getting a massage. That is, if a person that may have a contraindication receives a massage, it could make their symptoms worse, which could lead to even more complications. So always check with your physician first before receiving a massage if you have any medical conditions.

Now, there are many different types of massage to suit your need which what makes massage therapy so multi-faceted. Such as:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue
  • Hot Stones
  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Lomi Lomi Massage
  • Myofascial Release
  • Shiatsu Massage
  • Thai Massage
  • Sports Massage
That's just to name few. In my opinion, no massage is created equal because of the simple fact that every (body) is different and every need is different. Which means no matter what technique is being used, that session is still designed especially for you. With that being said, massage is a awesome way to treat yourself to some much needed me time, with the comfort in knowing that not only am I going to feel relaxed and pampered, I am passively improving my health. Because all massage can be therapeutic.

Namaste!
