Some Health Benefits of Massage

Did you know that getting a massage is a step towards better health? Well it's true!
Massage can aid in:

  • Better blood circulation
  • Relief of anxiety and depression
  • The recovery time of the muscles after a workout
  • Stress levels
  • Hormones
  • Morale
  • Decreasing muscle cramps and spasms
  • Increasing Range of Motion
  • Some Lymphatic issues
  • and list of other wonderful benefits
A lot of the times we don't think to call and schedule an appointment with a Massage Therapist when
we are feeling sore, fatigued, depressed and so on. A lot of the times, we figure we'll just pop a pill or we do nothing. Only a small percentage of us will probably call our physician with our issues and that's not good, because of the obvious that there could be a bigger problem at hand. Of course with all issues that you may be having with your body, I would definitely say please contact your physician with these issues and in that check-up just ask your doctor if it's safe for you to receive a massage.
"Well, why do I need to ask my doctor if it's SAFE for me to get a massage?"you ask. Well, what I've learned is that there's a contraindications for some people who may have certain types of illnesses, disease, deficiencies, and so on that would prevent them from getting a massage. That is, if a person that may have a contraindication receives a massage, it could make their symptoms worse, which could lead to even more complications. So always check with your physician first before receiving a massage if you have any medical conditions.

Now, there are many different types of massage to suit your need which what makes massage therapy so multi-faceted. Such as:

  • Swedish Massage
  • Deep Tissue
  • Hot Stones
  • Craniosacral Therapy
  • Lomi Lomi Massage
  • Myofascial Release
  • Shiatsu Massage
  • Thai Massage
  • Sports Massage
That's just to name few. In my opinion, no massage is created equal because of the simple fact that every (body) is different and every need is different. Which means no matter what technique is being used, that session is still designed especially for you. With that being said, massage is a awesome way to treat yourself to some much needed me time, with the comfort in knowing that not only am I going to feel relaxed and pampered, I am passively improving my health. Because all massage can be therapeutic.

I Big Chopped! Again!!!

September 2013

O.K. so, I big chopped May 20, 2013. I just couldn't take any more.
In my head, I had planned on big chopping around the time of my birthday which is in August, but I JUST COULD NOT TAKE IT ANY MORE. Just sitting here watching my hair come out every time I washed my hair was killing me. Having to detangle those 2 totally different textures was crazy. But now, I don't know what to do with it because my hair is not in any shape or style to me. So for now, I am just wearing my wigs which is cool with me.
I can't wait to be able to do my twist out and things, but for right now I'm going to sit back and enjoy the freedom I have when I wash my hair or just taking a shower period.

Even though it has only been a couple of days, my regimen is pretty simple. Mist a little water at night, some Shea Moistures Extra Moisture Transitioning Milk and my grapeseed oil mixture and tie it down. Oh and to slick down my edges, Aloe vera gel or Eco Styler Gel (Argan Oil Formula). I am on the hunt for a different leave in conditioner, but for right now I am still using my Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine and the Aphogee Pro- Vitamin Leave In conditioner. I still plan on seeing a dermatologist but as for right now this big chop has made me feel a lot better.
